I'm hoping that increasing those values might encourage the CPU to keep delivering full turbo boost rather than throttling. When you first open the Turbo Power Limit window, it should show you the default TDP / TDC values for your CPU. This new feature is in the very early stages of testing so let me know if this solves anything. With any luck, maybe there will be no more turbo throttling when trying to push an i7-980X hard on this board. If you have an Extreme CPU that supports this feature, you might be able to increase the TDP and TDC limits for your CPU on the fly. If you run this program and right click on it, there should be a menu option called Turbo Power Limit.

This makes me believe the throttling is maybe hardware (mobo) related because I run up to 4.5GHz 24/7 loaded on my P6X58D and it never throttles. Yeah the P6X bios also throttles at 4.4Ghz just like any regular P6T bios so i flashed back to 0006 besides i couldn't disable SAS-SCSI which was slowing down my boot times by like 10 seconds or so plus i wasn't getting any better overclocks except when i used QPI slow mode and QPI slow mode is exactly that.
